Other materials used in making khatam are camel bone, brass, twisted wires and in some real seashell. When the box opened it reveals a chess board on the outer surface and a backgammon board on the inner surface. The inside and outside box varnished to a three layer of high gloss finishing for protection against moisture and pale.
